Fairbanks offers a unique, diverse, military-friendly community with lots of things for kids to do.  In the summer, hiking, camping, and fishing allow families to enjoy Alaska’s spectacular outdoors scenery.  Denali National Park http://www.nps.gov/dena/planyourvisit/directions.htm is a must see attraction and is only about two hours away by car.  Popular winter activities for local youth include snow-machining, snow boarding, cross-country and downhill skiing, hockey, and dog-mushing.
