Home Schooling
Alaska Laws
According to the State Department of Education web site http://www.eed.state.ak.us/faq.html#A13
“Children schooled at home by their parents or guardians are exempt from the Compulsory School Attendance Law. Parents are not required to register with the state or their local school district, and no testing or other requirements are placed on home schools not funded with public dollars.”
Monetary support from the state is available through school district-sponsored home school programs. Funds may be used to pay for SKIES classes http://www.wainwright.parocys.org/SKIES/Home.html.
Home School Rec Days are held during the school year every Monday, Wednesday, and Friday from 11:30 to 12:30, except for federal and training holidays, in the Youth Center gym (4109 Neely Road). Parents must supervise children and children must be registered with CYS.
