Parent and Youth Advisory Council
 (PYAC)

The Parent and Youth Advisory Council meets at 4:30 PM on Wednesday 25 October 2006 at the School Age Services Bldg # 4391.

ROLE of the Parent and Youth Advisory Council (PYAC)
  1. Function in advisory capacity (not advisory committee) as defined in Federal Advisory Committee Act, Section 805, Military Family Act of 1985.
  2. Review and discuss CYS services, procedures, e.g. fee policy, operating hours.
  3. Make recommendations for improving services.
  4. Establish and monitor in conjunction with CYS Coordinator/Staff a Parent Youth Participation (Volunteer) Program, ie., special events, small group activities, special projects.
  5. Recommends and supports parent education/involvement opportunities.
  6. Participate in DoD certification and national accreditation process for CYS programs.
PURPOSE: Provide patron/stakeholder input to CYS programs


  MEMBERSHIP:
  Parents:
  • Majority of membership
  • All CYS programs represented
  • Mix of priority for care (e.g., sole, dual career military and/or civilian, full-time/part time)
  • On/off-post patrons
  Youth:
  • Middle/school teen
  • Active in CYS youth/teen programs
    Community Reps:
  • Support/regulatory agencies
  • CYS program managers (e.g., CDC, SAS, FCC, YS)
  • Family Action Plan Manager
  • School counselors
  • Army Community Services
  • Command/Unit Representatives

The Parent and Youth Advisory Council meets at 4:30 PM on the last Wednesday of every month at the School Age Services Bldg # 4391.
